This topic is for anyone who has read Dorothy L. Sayers' mystery novel series with the main character of lord Peter Wimsey, whether you like them or not. Personally I appreciate her trade craft and research skills immensely. I find that reading a great deal of mystery novels makes me a bit paranoid though. The fact that JRR Tolkien and CS Lewis were friends of hers and both read her books is incredible and I wonder about their conversations.

I agree that Sayers' attention to detail and character development make for thoroughly enjoyable books! I have read and re-read all of the Lord Peter books, including the newer ones continued by Jill Paton Walsh. My favorites are the Lord Peter/Harriet Vane books. "Have His Carcase" with the explanation of the Playfair cipher code was absolutely intriguing.
