Review of E M P Honeymoon
EMP Honeymoon is a sci-fi novel written by Dorothy May Mercer. This book follows the story of the newlywed Kelly and Tom on their honeymoon on an island in the Caribbean. The vacation they thought was a refreshing trip turned into a tragic vacation.
Kelly was just strolling around to find souvenirs when she noticed an unusual thing. As her curiosity rise, she found herself in front of familiar machines in a restricted room. Only to realize later on that these are North American power grids. Everything was so tense until she found out that a bunch of men were running after her. These machines have a big part in producing electromagnetic pulses (EMP). EMP is a warfare that is strong enough to defeat tons of armies and destroy machines and guns. What would happen to Kelly and Tom's honeymoon vacation? Knowing the threat to their lives, will they just leave North America? Or fight against this terrorism? Grab and read the book to follow Kelly and Tom's adventure.
The first thing that caught my attention is the title. At first, I thought that the title of the book is kind of uninteresting and not that catchy since I'm not that familiar with what EMP refers to. But as I start to read and find out what EMP is all about, everything starts to make sense. This factor makes me conclude that the title is creatively written since it hides interesting things that can only be unfolded while reading the book.
Another thing that I liked about this book is the touch of romance it offers. A book with a plot of terrorism is great, but it became more interesting because of Tom and Kelly's love story. This factor also acts as a little break to the intense events in the story. I also liked how Kelly and Tom support each other.
However, I just find the book cover unbalanced. The colors used don't seem suited to each other. Because some of the texts become hard to recognize, like the name of the author on the bottom part. However, this factor is not strong enough to make me reduce a star from the rating. Other than this, I also found no negative factor that would make me dislike this book.
I only found one error in my entire read, so this book remains professionally written and well-edited. Because of these reasons, I give this book five out of five stars.
This book is recommended to readers who are a fan of sci-fi novels. It is also suited for readers who like action and adventure.
