In Mit Sandru’s R.I.P: Death of a Vampire, Cat Sanders encounters vampires, death, corrupt federal agents, kidnapping, and more.

Decades earlier, Vlad lost his canine teeth and is slowly dying. No longer the immortal vampire he used to be, Vlad seeks out Cat, his great-great-great-granddaughter to pass on his $100 billion fortune.

Parents both dead from a car wreck, Cat is lonely and feels like her life is going nowhere. All that changes, however, when she meets Vlad. He tells her how she is his last living relative and tells her about the world of vampires. Their reunion, however, is short-lived. When Vlad is caught on surveillance tape during his initial meeting with Cat, a government supercomputer matches him up to an 1851 photo. This, in turn, sends Vlad’s old nemesis, secrent government agent, John Miller, hot on their trail. He’s determined at all costs to catch Vlad dead or alive and he has powerful minions to help him do it. Vlad and Cat’s only hope is to fake Vlad’s death before he dies. With the help of a couple trusted vampire friends, the duo may just be able to even up the odds, but Miller won’t give up easily. Will Vlad be able to rest in peace? Will Cat’s life ever be the same?

The characters in Sandru’s novel were delightfully entertaining and well developed. The dynamics between Cat and Vlad were believable and fun to follow throughout the book as their friendship grew. The plot was mostly well developed and drew the reader easily into Cat’s world.

The imagery the author used throughout the book was one of my favorite parts. Particularly, when the author described when Mondibuto changes to his vampire form and Miller relieved himself and passed out.

The part of the story regarding Agent Miller, however, had a few problems. The motives of Vlad’s acquaintances turned enemies are shallow or non-existent. The character of Miller itself was a little unclear. Once I discovered his real name and who he really was, it was still really hard to keep track of him and his alternate side.

I enjoyed reading the story, particularly the humorous parts. The characters were engaging and human-like, even the vampires. I liked how the lines between good and evil were gray and how it was hard to guess Miller’s true identity. Overall, I’d rate the book 3 out of 4 stars and would recommend it to anyone who enjoys humor, adventure, and/or vampires.

Nice review. I wouldn't have guessed it was humorous from the look of the book. I'm not much into vampires but I do love interesting characters.
