Review of Desert Town Angels
What if, out of the blue, a lawyer called you and said you inherited a good fortune with legal documents to support your curiosity? This is the case of Van Gordon in the trilogy book, Desert Town Angels, by R. A. Lee. The first title is The Last Will and Testament of Howard Thornbon, followed by The Kin of Ms. Honey Hallowell, and the last is The Final Showdown in Golden Peaks. Get ready to discover who will fully own the town.
Van's life changed forever after she got a town (the Golden Peaks) as the living heir of Ms. Honey Hollowell. She is trying to honor the will and live there for 30 consecutive days; if not, the town will be in Sheri's hands. After the death of Howard Thornbon, Sheri longed to get the "Golden Peaks," which had been left by his father to a stranger. The octogenarians (Nelson, Mrs. Hargate, and Grace) and Ryan are excited to meet the new owner of the town, Van. They will remain in the town as stated in the will of Mr. Thornbon, but Sheri is searching everything to know Ms. Honey and to nullify her father's will. Sheri has everything her father's inheritances besides the Golden Peaks. Why was the town left to a stranger? Van doesn't know either Mr. Howard or Ms. Honey. Will Van win in this game?
This is an awakening story when we reach our golden years. Who will be our aid, our guide, our companion, and our friends in those years? I like that the author highlights a friendship that is "more than a brother." Readers will appreciate the kinds of friends Howard has. Truly, we cannot live without a true friend in times of crisis. Furthermore, the author includes marriage flaws, dysfunctional relationships, and the ideal family model. I also like how the octogenarians support Ryan's love story.
I give 5 out 5 stars for this novel. Though the book is quite tedious, which I least like, it is written in very fluent English and is carefully proofread without any errors. Readers will notice that this book is exceptionally well edited. There are few characters to count with good background support in the character development. Albeit in a slow-paced narrative, it makes the story unpredictable. For example, in the characters of the three old people, they keep a secret in the heartbreaking story of a couple in the old hotel, which excites me to know what it is. I'm thrilled to discover why Howard, Ryan, and the octogenarians end up in a remote town, too. Plus, Sheri's character has an intense impact in every scenario because of her unpredictable plans.
I recommend this book to those who like family dramas with an intense love story from the character's past life. Those who like friendship stories until the prime of life will like this book.
