The Date Farm: Lara and Uri: Book 4 by Jack Winnick certainly wasn't what I was expecting when I read the brief synopsis. I was expecting a romantic novel about a sweet couple named Lara and Uri who were just beginning to date each other; maybe having met while visiting a farm. I soon realized that this novel actually takes place on a farm where dates are the crop that is being harvested. Of course, it's only a front for a more sinister plot of espionage and theft between the United States and Islamic forces.

I'll not give any more of the story away. It was a very riveting novel and kept me reading to find out what happened next. It was hard to put down. I'm not a history buff; in fact, I never really enjoyed studying history, but I'm pretty sure that a large portion of the storyline was factual. The World Trade Center bombing was mentioned in the novel, as well as ISIS, different Arab nations, and the Ayatollah Khamanei. It was very evident that Mr. Winnick did comprehensive research for this fictional novel.

There was very little vulgar language and no sexual content at all, and that is very important to me. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys reading historical fiction. This novel is the fourth book in a five novel series of Lara and Uri's escapades, so I feel like the other four would be just as exciting as this one. I gladly give this novel a 5 out of 5 rating. I enjoyed reading it and there was nothing that I didn't like.
