The Attunist is a book through which the author, Gary B. Haley, presents a personal experience. Justice has never been a black or white concept; a myriad of grey tones have always existed. The main character of the book has a strong sense of justice, and the society he lives in does not agree with the full extent of what a crime-free life means. Absolute justice or peace is not achievable in our society, yet he struggles to make a difference. Unfortunately, for his troubles, he is labeled as a dangerous serial killer on the loose. Gary selflessly risked his life to eliminate drug trafficking and criminal organizations, fueled by the love and support of his girlfriend: FBI Agent Carla Bright. In the end, he was hunted down by her coworkers and taken to Mexico. Read along with this crime-thriller to find out what happens.

In terms of positive aspects, I enjoyed the characters of this novel. Carla represents how important love and support are for your partner to achieve their goals. I also liked the message of the book; sometimes you'll be labeled a threat regardless of if you mean well. Furthermore, I liked how everyone turned against him; this adds to the suspense and psychological context of the character; criminals were on his heels to exact revenge; the FBI was searching for him, and while hiding in remote places, even nature turned on him. I have read the previous two books in the series, and I enjoyed how The Attunist completes the cliffhanger The Attuned ended with, even though the last book can be read as a stand-alone.

There was one thing I did not like: the overall structure of the chapters. Most of them were of different lengths, and they could have been merged and edited for the book to have a better flow.

I enjoyed this author's writing style, and I could not find any typos or grammatical errors. I believe this book was professionally edited. Because of this and the many positive aspects I have mentioned, I rate this book 5 out of 5 stars.

Most of the themes approached in this book are mature, so I would recommend this book to people who are 18 years old or older. This book is for fans of selfless heroes, sacrifices, and the injustices of society. Crime will never truly be eradicated, but it gives me hope that there are people who would go to such lengths to challenge crime.
