The Unseen by James McKenna introduces investigator Sean Fagan who works for the SOCA, Serious Organized Crime Agency. When a fellow copper, Sinclair, is presumed dead by suicide, superintendent John Cobbart enlists Fagan to investigate. Sinclair's daughter had been one of three women who got brutally murdered. So it is believed that these cases are somehow connected. How? That is what Sean Fagan is determined to find out.

Princess Kay-Ling (PKL) is a popular video game in the UK. Even Fagan's daughters play this seemingly harmless game. As Fagan investigates these murders, he notices the only thing they have in common is that they all played PKL. How could a well-known video game be connected to these deaths?

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this novel. I think McKenna did an incredible job incorporating many themes and details in an organized manner. It was easy to follow the many characters, along with all the intricate plots. McKenna's descriptive writing allowed me to imagine this story as a show playing in my head. I felt as if I was watching an episode of Criminal Minds. I believe it was brilliant how the author portrayed Harrison's illusions through the writing. To show the mental instability of this character in such a realistic way amazed me.

The concept of a video game leading to murder was clever, in my opinion. This aspect intrigued me the most. McKenna's explanations of the game and all the technical information made it easy to comprehend. Also, I liked how this novel brings awareness to the potential dangers of gaming.

Sean Fagan is my favorite character. I connected to this character the most. I was glad that Fagan was not ignorant of Victoria's actions, even though they had a complicated personal relationship. I am eager to read the next installment of this series. I want to find out what transpires between them after how this book came to an end.

I rate this book a 5 out of 5 stars. This book is well-edited. I did come across some minor errors in the book, but they did not hinder the reading. There is nothing I dislike about this novel.

I would suggest The Unseen to readers that love murder mysteries. This book is packed with action and suspense that keeps you wanting more. There is a heavy amount of profanity, sexual content, and gore. I do recommend this book to more mature readers.

This seems like a terrific murder mystery that offers a great blend of action and psychological dig into the protagonist's mind. I read horror stories, so I don't mind gory bits. Thank you for your great review!
Ciao :)
