Goodbye To An Old Freind by Brian Freemantle

Post by DennisK »

I know nothing of the author. I was returning a book to the library hoping to find a book that was recommended in this forum, but they didn't have it; so I grabbed the first book with a title that attracted me.
This is a mystery book. The setting is a Great Britain bureau that dealt with Russians who defect to the West. The story is about a top Russian scientist who turned up on the bureau's door step. The mystery was in the scientist's motives for defecting.
The book is a quick read – nothing in its sentence structure made it difficult to read. The characters were developed well enough to carry the story – not much more. It was the kind of book I would use to fill in periods of rest, or perhaps before going to sleep. I give the book a 3 out of 5.
