E M P Honeymoon by Dorothy May Mercer is a gripping tale about Kelly and Tom, who embark on their honeymoon in Honduras. Kelly, the sister of a well-connected senator, and Tom, a police officer, exchange vows and jet off to the tropical paradise for some much-needed honeymoon. However, their idyllic vacation takes a terrifying turn when Kelly unwittingly stumbles upon a piggy gift store. As she scopes out the wares, Kelly finds herself targeted by shadowy figures who will stop at nothing to protect their secrets. As the newlyweds struggle to make sense of the danger that surrounds them, they begin to suspect that terrorists may be operating in the area. Will their romantic getaway turn into a living nightmare, or will they emerge from the chaos with a newfound appreciation for life?

The novel takes readers on a rollercoaster ride from the initial panic to the investigative phase. The author adeptly weaves together multiple subplots, giving the reader a fully-realized, multifaceted story. Throughout the book, the author artfully switches between different scenes and locations, introducing readers to key players in the story and fleshing out their backstories through conversation. This technique is executed flawlessly, allowing readers to easily follow the plot and become fully immersed in the story.

One of the standout elements of the book is the author's portrayal of the work of intelligence agencies and their use of cutting-edge spyware to uncover the truth. This aspect of the story adds an extra layer of intrigue and suspense that keeps readers hooked until the very end. Another strong point of the book is the author's nuanced portrayal of the relationships between the characters, despite the danger and uncertainty that they face. The author also deftly explores the theme of teamwork, showing how the characters must rely on each other to overcome the challenges they face. This made me follow the story with an even keener interest.

Initially, I found the pacing of the book to be slow, and the transitions between scenes and locations to be lacking in execution. However, as I delved deeper into the story, I came to appreciate the author's approach, as the opening chapters seamlessly led me into the main plotline with great clarity. As a result, any initial misgivings I had were quickly dispelled.

In light of the above, coupled with the author's expertly crafted prose and error-free writing, I am pleased to give this book a perfect rating of five out of five. I would highly recommend it to fans of crime novels, thrillers, and romance.

I’m already intrigued by your review and need to add this to my want to read collection as it is definitely a ‘want to read’. I can’t imagine what it would be like for an honeymoon you’ve been anticipating for so long turn into something so terrifying. A very well written review I have to say.

I couldn’t believe that the government of the US allowed these untrained people to be part of the team trying to stop these terrorists. Thanks for the review!
