Review of Final Notice
Final Notice by Van Fleisher starts on an interesting premise. What would you do if you knew you just had a few days to live? Contemplating the entirety of your life with just a few days left to live can be a hard thing to do. Most people would get their affairs in order, say goodbye to their loved ones, keep themselves comfortable, and wait for their impending death, among other things. However, this story takes a different turn.
The reader first meets the main character, Vince Fuller, as he returns to his home in Pasadena, California, visibly shaken. He lives with his wife, Trudi and their dog, Miles, but on this day, when he gets home, he avoids his wife and rushes to the bathroom to clean up before she sees him. He joins her later and relaxes in front of the TV as they watch the news. On the news that evening, there is an interesting story about the rise of attacks on the elderly generation. These kinds of stories have led to an increase in anxiety among the elderly population, and the government’s proposed solution is to launch a program that encourages the elderly to purchase guns for their protection. This may foreshadow what is to come as the story unravels further.
This book was interesting to read primarily because the story is unique and intriguing. As I read this book, I was constantly curious about what would happen on the next page. I could not put it down. The author combines suspense and thrilling aspects in this book, creating an interesting concept. The characters are also well thought out and constructed.
They had multiple facets and were likeable and relatable. I wanted to root for them as they faced different challenges. The book also covers the relationships between these characters very well. Their actions and decisions are very human and believable. The author’s ability to develop new twists and turns in the story is commendable. I liked all these aspects of the book.
The plot is well laid out, and the story is well-paced. The author also uses simple, easy-to-understand language that allows the reader to follow the story easily. The book also contains several interesting themes: love, suspense, murder, death, and romance. These themes allow a reader to see into the minds of these characters as the story moves along. Despite some of its sci-fi aspects, the story highlights the importance of human interaction and how these interactions might be the most important things to a person. There is nothing about this book i did not like.
I rate this book five out of five stars for the suspenseful, unpredictable, and original storyline. This rating is also because I found no grammatical errors, and the book seems exceptionally well-edited. I recommend this book to any adult looking to read an interesting, suspenseful thriller story.
