Van Fleisher's Final Notice delves into a societal menace that has plagued the world yet without any adequate recourse or response to mitigate its devastating impact: gun violence! Embedded in the background of the book that gives birth to its perspectives is a technological feat by Vijay Patel, who has created a device that can successfully diagnose health issues and accurately predict death. With the rise of gun ownership, how will this affect the people? After Vince, a 70-year-old man, was intimidated and harassed in a park by a young person who took him for weak prey, judging by his years and physical disposition, he became perturbed by this event, almost to the point of obsession. As the days spun, Vince saw in the news an event where an 89-year-old who lived in a home killed six other occupants, leaving others injured, by shooting at them. This further triggers his memory of his harassment, and he starts to contemplate getting a gun using the NRA discount for senior citizens.

The book is a captivating work of fiction, yet it has a great impact on realistic issues. It also reveals the opportunistic nature of humans and how anything can be taken advantage of dangerously, contrary to the intent for which it is designed, but alternatively suited to serve other vile purposes. The characters were realistic and consistent with reality, the plots were well woven, and the author's characterization of old people reflected a true study of the subject.

The story was brimming with suspense, and they gradually connected gracefully. You'd be thrilled through the book and mentally nudged to the end. I like how the author addressed controversial issues regarding gun ownership, bullying, protection, and the impact of technology beyond the scope of its intended design. Imagine a technology of this nature, although meant for good, combined with a killer's intent. These are adventures to uncover through this book.

I rate this book 5 out of 5 stars. The pace was well-timed, and the book was well-scripted in language and context. I couldn't find any errors in the book; hence, it is safe to say it was perfectly edited. Technology is climaxing and reaching a new threshold of growth, and this book acts as a forecast of realities that can be upon us in the not-too-distant future should this trajectory be maintained, where there are technological enablers to carry out the different intents of man's thoughts.

This book comes highly recommended to those fascinated, involved, or interested in technology. It is also great for innovators or potential innovators. You'd find this book a thriller if you love books that have to do with crime fighting, policy reformation, or anything along those lines.
