Review of E M P Honeymoon
Dorothy May Mercer's E M P Honeymoon: Kelly & Tom is a masterful work of fiction that brilliantly captures the essence of love, courage, and suspense. The story revolves around Kelly McBride and her newlywed husband, Sergeant Tom Turbulo, enjoying their honeymoon on a breathtaking Caribbean island. The setting is nothing short of a paradise, with sun-kissed beaches, sparkling turquoise waters, and exotic delicacies. However, their dream vacation takes a dark turn when Kelly encounters a mysterious figure while shopping. Unknown to them, the couple becomes embroiled in a sinister plot to unleash an electromagnetic pulse attack on North America. With the help of CIA Special Agent Steve Spalding and Kelly's two female bodyguards, Sharon and Agatha, Kelly and Tom set out to uncover the perpetrators and prevent the attack from occurring.
The book is thrilling, full of heart-pumping action, and nail-biting suspense. Readers will be pinned to the edge of their seats as they follow the brave couple and their allies through a maze of danger and intrigue, fighting against the clock to stop the attack. Mercer's writing is crisp and engaging, transporting readers to a world of danger and adventure.
This book has many redeeming qualities. The author has expertly crafted a complex and exciting plot that will have readers turning pages until the end. The narrative is intricately woven and will keep you wondering until the last page. The book had a nice mix of romance and suspense, which made it more interesting and engaging. The characters are interesting and plausible, which makes it simple to cheer for them while they face peril. I became engaged in their adventure and wanted to see how they would triumph over each challenge they faced.
The author's meticulous research was another highlight for me. Mercer does a beautiful job of making the island seem alive and distinct from the story. It seemed as if I could practically taste the exotic fruits she described and feel the warmth of the sun via her evocative descriptions of the island's flora, wildlife, and indigenous food. I like the imagery. The author's clever use of technology was another high point for me. It was fascinating to watch how the author used suspense to draw attention to the EMP device, a genuine hazard many people are ignorant of.
There were parts of the novel that I did not appreciate as much. There are a lot of characters and subplots in the story, which may make it difficult to follow for certain readers. I enjoyed the story's depth and intricacy, but I can see how it may be too much for certain readers. I also thought the relationship in the novel might have benefited from a little more depth. Although I enjoyed reading about Kelly and Tom's romance, I wished the book had delved more into their relationship and how it developed.
If you like mysteries with a romantic element, you should check out E M P Honeymoon: Kelly & Tom. Mercer has written an original and exciting tale that will hold your interest right up to the last page. This book is a must-read for lovers of crime and romance because of its well-developed narrative, evocative descriptions, and likable characters. Although its intricacy may put off some readers, I have no doubt that those who stick with it will be rewarded with a remarkable story. I rate the book 5 out of 5 stars because it is exceptionally edited and delightful. Despite the criticism in the penultimate paragraph, I did not dislike anything in the book.
