Review of E M P Honeymoon
Imagine yourself lounging on a soft, comfortable blanket, with a gentle breeze blowing through your hair and the warm sun shining down on your face. As I opened Dorothy May Mercer's captivating book E M P Honeymoon: Kelly & Tom, I was transported to a picturesque Caribbean island where Kelly McBride and her husband, Sergeant Tom Turbulo, were on their honeymoon. In this beautiful setting, Kelly and Tom are enjoying a delightful picnic, surrounded by breathtaking views of crystal-clear waters and lush greenery. The scent of delicious food fills the air, and the happy couple's radiance is a testament to their love.
However, their romantic picnic is interrupted by an unexpected encounter with a mysterious individual. Little do they know, Kelly and Tom have been unwittingly drawn into a plot to detonate an electromagnetic pulse that could devastate North America. With the help of CIA Special Agent Steve Spalding and Kelly's two female bodyguards, Sharon and Agatha, the couple sets out to uncover the conspiracy and put an end to the plot. As they navigate the twists and turns of the dangerous scheme, they must draw upon their courage and love for one another to overcome the odds and save countless lives.
The setting is like a lush green park, where Kelly and Tom are enjoying their honeymoon on a picturesque Caribbean island. They're just starting to relax and unwind, savoring the sun-kissed scenery and indulging in delicious food and drink, when their peaceful retreat is abruptly interrupted. But don't worry, the sudden intrusion only adds to the excitement of the picnic!
As you dive into the story, you'll find that Mercer's writing is like a crisp, refreshing glass of lemonade, perfectly quenching your thirst for adventure. The plot is expertly crafted, with unexpected twists and turns that keep you safe under your picnic blanket. The characters are like various delectable treats, each uniquely satisfying. Kelly is the main dish, a strong and resourceful heroine you cannot help but root for. And Tom is like a refreshing fruit salad, the perfect complement to Kelly's fiery spirit. The supporting cast is like an array of finger foods, each one adding its own unique flavor to the story.
I did not dislike anything in the book. However, it is worthy of note that the book's pacing was slow at first. Hence, readers seeking first-page action might be disappointed. The themes of love, bravery, and suspense portrayed in the book are like a delightful array of picnic snacks, each one more tempting than the last. And the language used throughout the book is like a sweet, creamy dessert, leaving a pleasant taste in your mouth long after reading. I rate the book 5 out of 5 stars because it is exceptionally edited, thrilling, sci-fi worthy, and romantic.
So if you're looking for a thrilling literary picnic that will leave you feeling satisfied and refreshed, grab a copy of E M P Honeymoon: Kelly & Tom by Dorothy May Mercer. It's the perfect book for a lazy afternoon in the park or a cozy night with a good book and a glass of wine. Bon appétit!
