Soul Seeker is a riveting paranormal thriller revolving around angels, demons, and humans. The life of Benjamin Poe was destroyed when Crighton deceived him into committing murder. But Lucifer's best soul-catching demon doesn't stop there. The story, then, shifts focus to Crighton. Lucifer sends him on a mission to capture the soul of an angel, Ariel. The Sovereign Sector, a secret group of scientists aiming to experiment on the supernatural, captures them while Crighton is attacking the angel, Ariel. As Crighton and Ariel's relationship strengthens, they uncover dark secrets and traitorous lies. Now, he has to figure out who he really is and how to handle this strange new feeling of bonded love before Lucifer kills him.

The author, Kaylin McFarren, skillfully brought together multiple subplots by the end of the story. Previously introduced characters expertly tie back into the main plot instead of being forgotten and their ending left to the reader's imagination. The pace and flow of the story are superb, making it hard to stop reading. I even shouted out loud when I finished the first part, wanting the character, Poe, to realize his mistake. McFarren executes excellent storytelling mechanisms that immerse the reader into the Soul Seeker's world.

The catastrophic upset in this book is the rift between the two parts. It took nearly half the second part to settle into the different storyline. The first part has a distinct storyline and is conveyed from a different viewpoint compared to the second part. I feel like there could have been a better bridge from one to the other. Another issue I had was the not-so-supernatural portrayal of demons and angels. The reader would have benefited from a more direct explanation of these powers to aid their understanding. Due to the current popularity of the supernatural, I expected balls of fire or cleansing beams of Godly light. Crighton's strength was not as impressive as initially reported when he was caught. Providing more information could have strengthened this particular part of the narrative.

I give this book 4 out of 5 stars. I found very few grammar errors, and the need for a little more detail to transition better from part one to part two are the reasons I cannot give this book all five stars. Young adults and up are better suited to this story as it does contain some intense sexual scenes as well as some profanity. However, these concerns are not overly graphic or prominent. Soul Seeker is a captivating and enjoyable story that I highly recommend to paranormal thriller readers who love a good romance thrown in.
