The Cable Company is a crime/mystery novel that has many things going on. At the beginning of the novel, there is a woman named Mrs. S who has strange things happening to her TV set. She says the TV pixellates and she does not get good signal every night between 8pm-10pm. She is not able to watch her TV programs, her DVR does not record, and she has all sorts of problems. She emails the Cable Company called Minimum Cable about her complaints, and one of the workers, Mr. Smith, addresses her complaints and does his best to fix the problem.

At a certain point, someone at the cable company thinks this is weird and assumes that the reason the TV set is not working is because there is some kind of signal interference and data transmission going on in space. Apparently, the cable company is being used to transmit US military secrets to Russia. One day, one of the Secret Service agents, Harry Sherwood, is found to be dead and the rest of the Secret Service and CIA find fake acorns with computer chips inside in his possession. They try to track these acorns, where they came from, and what they are used for and realize that there is a mole sending military secrets to Russia using these fake acorns.

I rate this book 1 out of 4 stars. This book was hard to understand at times because it was not clear who was speaking or where somebody was and what they were doing there. This book read much more like a movie script rather than an actual novel. A lot of the sentences were short and choppy and were there just to describe what the character was doing, but the writing did not flow well. There was too much telling and not enough showing.

I also felt like there were things that were not explained well and did not make sense. For example, the book is called The Cable Company and it is clear that there were shady people using this specific cable company to transmit confidential secrets to the enemy. I expected there to be more of an explanation for what the Cable Company really is, and know more about the people who worked there. There were a few characters mentioned who did shady things and were very secretive, but then they were never explored. The characters motivations and desires were not explained and it was confusing sometimes to know which side they were on.

My biggest disappointment is how the book was described. This book was said to have an unexpected ending and crazy twist but when I read the ending I was not surprised at all. I love novels that have unexpected twist endings but I did not get that from this book. It was a very short and quick read so I recommend this book to anyone who wants to read something short in their spare time. But overall, I would not recommend this book because it read much more like a movie script rather than an actual book.
