Review of E M P Honeymoon
Dorothy May Mercer's E M P Honeymoon is an exciting action thriller. It tells the narrative of a CIA agent, a cop, and three ordinary individuals who are abruptly thrown into a mission to stop a highly experienced terrorist outfit. Senator Mike McBride receives a worrisome phone call from his sister, Kelly, who is now on her honeymoon with her new husband, Tom, in Honduras. Mike, perplexed and concerned, promptly enlists the assistance of his security chief, Cynthia, to examine the matter. Kelly unexpectedly stumbles onto a group of terrorists plotting an attack on North America while looking for souvenirs. Cynthia, concerned about everyone's safety, sends two members of her security team to Honduras to secure their protection. As the plot progresses, the four of them team up with Steve, a CIA agent who has been tracking the terrorist cell. This crew of five people sets out on a mission to investigate the terrorists' plans and stop them in their tracks. Their ultimate goal is to gather critical information about the looming threat and design a strategy to prevent it from occurring.
I really enjoyed how the author depicted the characters in this book. One character that stood out to me was Dr. Kinny. He had a great mix of sarcasm, knowledge, and humor, which I thought was fantastic. It's not often that you find someone who possesses all these traits. Dr. Kinny's humor kept me engaged in his theories and the overall story. The book had a lot of suspense, especially at the beginning, when I was curious about who was after Kelly and what she had done to attract danger. I particularly liked the detailed descriptions of different settings and how the author brought them all together. Colonel Rhee's role intrigued me, and it wasn't until I saw her in Kelly's hotel that I started to understand her importance. Throughout the book, I found myself constantly wondering what would happen next, and that made me love it even more. The inclusion of pictures in the book was a nice touch that I really appreciated.
The only thing I didn't like about this book was that the newlywed couple went different ways to have fun during their honeymoon, and the husband had no idea where his wife was. It was a little difficult for me to grasp because couples usually stay together during their honeymoon. Nonetheless, despite this strangeness, I found myself loving the novel. Reading it taught me about terrorism, and I admire how the author addressed this critical problem.
This book deserves a perfect score, so I give it 5 out of 5 stars. The compelling plot and the author's distinct writing style are the reasons for my rating. I did not come across a few errors while reading, and it is worth noting that this book was exceptionally edited, which resulted in a polished reading experience.
It is crucial to note, however, that there are instances of swearing and certain sexual scenes in the novel, so it is important that younger readers steer clear of them. I recommend this book to lovers of action and thrillers because it will entertain them.
