Review of E M P Honeymoon
During their honeymoon on a resort island, Kelly and Tom Turbulo encounter a series of unfortunate events. Kelly's curiosity leads her to stumble upon a forbidden discovery in a pigsty shop, putting her life at risk. Filled with terror, she escapes from the pursuing terrorists and urgently contacts her brother to explain her dangerous situation. Later, it is revealed that these terrorists are plotting a deadly attack, entangling the couple in a global conspiracy aimed at wiping out North America. Now faced with a daunting challenge, Kelly and Tom must find a way to thwart this sinister plan and prevent its devastating consequences. Can they succeed in stopping the terrorists?
E M P Honeymoon by Dorothy May Mercer, a standalone novel in the McBride series, is an exhilarating action thriller that completely engrossed me. The author skillfully weaves together a fast-paced narrative filled with thrilling scenes that kept me on the edge of my seat. What truly delighted me was the clever and humorous dialogue crafted by Dorothy. I couldn't help but burst into laughter during the funny exchanges throughout the book. One particular scene that stood out to me was when Sharon and Agatha, Senator McBride's bodyguards and Kelly's older brother, effortlessly took down a CIA agent, Steve Spalding, who underestimated them due to their gender. It was a highly satisfying moment. The novel revolves around a group of individuals who join forces to expose a menacing terrorist threat targeting the United States. With each scene ending on a suspenseful cliffhanger, readers will find themselves hooked and unable to put the book down. Dorothy skillfully portrays the catastrophic effects of a nuclear electromagnetic pulse and vividly depicts the potential consequences if it were to be unleashed on its intended target.
From start to finish, I found this novel to be thoroughly enjoyable. The author's remarkable creativity is evident in the seamless weaving of the story, which captures readers to the point where they won't be able to tear their eyes away from each page. While there is a subtle romance element in the book, it is accompanied by an intriguing plot twist that adds an extra layer of excitement. I am truly impressed by Dorothy's skillful portrayal of the characters. They come across as genuine and relatable, their personalities mirroring those we encounter in our daily lives. Kelly and Tom's honeymoon plans are abruptly disrupted as they and their friends are thrust into a high-stakes battle to protect their country from an impending catastrophe. The narrative is filled with compelling mystery and suspense that will keep readers engrossed throughout.
One of the highlights of the book for me was the TV talk show interview. The interview focused on the intriguing theme of "What if the power goes out?" It captivated my interest because it brought up a subject that had never crossed my mind before. I was pleasantly surprised to learn something new and gain an understanding of solar flares, with the Carrington Flare serving as an illustrative example. I particularly appreciated how the author's image and website information were incorporated, encouraging readers to delve deeper into the topic of solar flares. This book truly offers a wealth of informative content.
I couldn't find any dislikes in this book, as it is exceptionally well-edited. Considering its remarkable quality, I rate the book five out of five stars. This beautifully crafted piece will undoubtedly bring joy and excitement to readers as they immerse themselves in its thrilling scenarios. I recommend this book to anyone who enjoys action thrillers.
