Las Vegas can be a mysterious, exciting, and scary place where "everything is possible". Wack City by Miko Montgomery is a wonderful read that claims to reveal the secrets of this amazing city.

Reminiscent of "One Thousand and One Nights", the book tells the story of a film producer who goes to Las Vegas for the thrill of a big jackpot and finds it in the backseat of the car of a most unsuspecting storyteller. Each story is short, but the characters in it are fully fleshed out and well-rounded, and the reader can enjoy their realistic yet mortifying adventures. They are original and gripping even in their short format, where the mundane meets the extraordinary.

There is a strange mixture of old-fashioned and quite contemporary plots and twists, which still fit the occult heart of Las Vegas to a T. The deviousness is easily seen and even expected behind every corner; however, we are left wanting to binge on the next story and then the next until we’ve ourselves become the epitome of the darkness that lurks in the fictional city.

The author very cleverly keeps us in the real and safe world by returning to the main characters at the end of each story. Of course, this comes at a cost with a final twist, which is cleverly predicted in the very beginning with the wittily disguised "Once you find Las Vegas, Las Vegas finds you."

The book reads like a script for a TV series—a bit gritty and emotional, a bit mysterious, and with a ton of Hollywood glamour.

I am happy to give this amazing read 5 out of 5 stars as it was wonderfully edited and well thought out. I would not recommend it to anyone who is not a fan of horror. But if you like the Twilight Zone and are looking for a new monster to creepily dominate your craziest fears, this is definitely the book for you.
