EMP Honeymoon by Dorothy May Mercer is a suspenseful thriller set on a Caribbean island where newlyweds Kelly McBride and Sgt. Tom Turbulo are enjoying their honeymoon. While Tom is diving, Kelly visits a souvenir shop and discovers suspicious activity, including a hidden hi-tech lab. She is confronted by a burly man but manages to escape and contacts her brother, Senator McBride. Fearing for their safety, Kelly and Tom become embroiled in a dangerous plot involving a dictator named Dear Leader, who plans to launch a nuclear attack on North America using an electromagnetic pulse (EMP) from a remote location in Honduras. Thanks to an undercover team and their hacking skills, they uncover the launch pad and missile but are unaware of the presence of a nuclear warhead, all leading up to a thrilling climax.
 
The author's splendid work is evident in the relatable manner in which the story is presented. The events and situations feel real, and the addition of characters and end notes at the end of the story is a wonderful addition. The plot line is well-developed, the structure is effectively presented, and the characters are skillfully developed. The balanced progression between the forces, the terrorists, and the protagonists, Tom and Kelly, ensures a logically consistent narrative.
 
There is nothing I didn't like about this fast-paced adventure. I didn't find any errors either. This book is very well edited.
 
Kelly and Tom embark on various thrilling adventures that capture the full attention of any reader without being superficial. The complexity of the characters and their ability to resolve conflicts throughout the story contribute to their entertainment value and the overall development of the narrative, sprinkled with romance. Starting with a common purpose, the characters grow closer to each other as the surprising end approaches. The fantastic way the story concludes is an absolute delight. The well-described character profiles, settings, and lively dialogues, including superb Spanish discourses, contribute to the overall enjoyment of the story.
For all these reasons, I give the book 5 out of 5 stars.
 
I recommend this book highly to all readers of thrillers, suspense, and adventures. Any couple who wants to start reading together should read this book, as it is about teamwork and partnership with the one you love. This book will be a fun read for all who read it.
