The Date Farm written by Jack Winnick is an action-packed thriller that will keep you on edge from beginning to end. The story begins with a terrorist attack on a Beverly hills mall hosting an after-hour rave for young people. Ten armed Islamic terrorists invade the mall, killing forty-eight people and injuring more than one hundred.

The story evolves as an international thriller portrayed by Lara Edmond and Uri Levin, a husband-and-wife team. Uri is a Mossad agent and Lara is from the FBI. The couple could be real-life characters, as Winnick uses actual historical events to propel his duo into a dramatic, dangerous world.

This book is the fourth in a series with Lara and Uri, but it can stand alone from start to finish. Winnick weaves a dramatic tale where his protagonists take the lead role in snuffing out the enemy by going undercover. He transports the reader into the middle of the action. He effectively interchanges the protagonists and supporting characters from chapter to chapter, keeping the reader spellbound with his play with words.

Winnick researched each detail of the story, making it a contemporary one. For example, he often describes the firearms used in the action by Navy Seals. The military experts use drones to track humans with technological devices regardless of their location. The sensor is implanted into a transistor radio, and another is stuck to the sole of the shoe.

Winnick is one of my favorite contemporary authors. I did not find any negative aspect of the book except for the descriptive violence and outcomes. Some readers may find this too graphic. I did not detect any errors, and I located only one incidence of borderline profanity. The book appears to have been professionally edited. I rate the book a 5 out of 5 stars, and I recommend it to anyone who enjoys international thrillers.
