Review of E M P Honeymoon
E M P Honeymoon by Dorothy May Mercer is a thrilling international crime novel that combines elements of romance, action, and suspense. The story follows Tom and Kelly, who stumble upon a secret terrorist lab during their honeymoon in Honduras. As they become unwitting targets, trusted agents Sharon and Agatha are assigned to protect them and uncover the terrorists' sinister plan. With the help of undercover CIA agent Steve Spalding, the unlikely team must race against time to prevent an electromagnetic pulse attack on North America's power grid.
The author's portrayal of the characters, particularly Steve, the CIA agent, is superb. The budding romance between Steve and Sharon adds an extra layer of excitement to the story, enhancing the overall thrill. Dorothy May Mercer's descriptive writing style shines through, providing intricate details about the rockets carrying the electromagnetic pulse device, heightening the tension, and immersing readers in the action.
One of the remarkable aspects of this book is its blend of entertainment and education. The author incorporates well-researched information about the dangers posed to the US power grid by electromagnetic pulse encounters. The inclusion of facts about solar flares and the potential devastation caused by deadly pulses adds depth and realism to the plot. Furthermore, the book's well-crafted and meticulously edited plot keeps readers engaged from beginning to end. The story's gripping start and seamless transitions between different narrative threads make it easy to follow, while the occasional moments of humor provide a welcome breather amidst the suspense.
Kelly and Tom's thrilling adventures and their complex character development capture the reader's attention throughout the book. The engaging storyline and well-described character profiles, settings, and lively dialogues, including Spanish discourses, contribute to the overall entertainment value. With its captivating narrative and the author's distinct writing style, E M P Honeymoon deserves a well-earned 5 out of 5 stars, and there was nothing to dislike about it.
In terms of editing, the book is exceptional, devoid of any errors that could detract from the reading experience. However, it is important to note that the book contains sexual scenes and profanity, which may limit its audience to mature readers. Nonetheless, the inclusion of these elements adds depth and authenticity to the story, making it a suitable choice for adult readers.
Overall, E M P Honeymoon is an engaging and well-executed novel that seamlessly combines elements of romance, action, and suspense. Dorothy May Mercer's meticulous attention to detail, strong character development, and seamless storytelling make it a highly recommended read for fans of the genre.
