EMP Honeymoon by Dorathy May Mercer takes readers on a thrilling and intense journey through what seems like a pre-apocalyptic landscape, showcasing the resilience of the human spirit in the face of a world-altering event. Dorothy May Mercer weaves a captivating tale that grips you from the very first page and keeps you on the edge of your seat until the last.

Isn't it so annoying when saving the world interrupts what otherwise would have been a wonderful honeymoon vacation? The book sets the scene as Kelly and Tom are on their honeymoon in Honduras when Kelly accidentally discovers an undercover gift shop that served as a terrorist laboratory. The terrorists, however, happen to be a team sent by the Korean leader to Honduras with the sole mission of launching an atomic bomb into America. Did the Korean leader succeed in launching the atomic bomb on American soil? Did the American government succeed in thwarting the plans of the terrorists? Read this book to find out.

One of the book's most significant strengths lies in the author's meticulous attention to detail and the realistic portrayal of a huge array of characters, making the narrative feel grounded and believable. From the book's ability to shed light on the possibility of new threats from so many different perspectives while expressing meaningfulness socially and politically to the book's use of new terms with technological meaning or references, e.g., "EMP", "Solar flares," and "LEO," just to name a few, it makes it easy for readers to immerse themselves fully in this grim reality.

Sarah and Tom, in particular, undergo significant growth as they face unimaginable challenges. Their determination and love for each other serve as an emotional anchor amidst the chaos, making them endearing protagonists that you can't help but root for, although I personally loved the flirty banter between Steve and Sharon. However, it is worth noting that the character development doesn't stand out for me, as it seemed nearly impossible to keep up with the huge list of Characters.

If you enjoy adventurous books with tales of survival, then this book is a must-read. Dorothy May Mercer's powerful storytelling and well-drawn characters will leave you pondering the strength of the human spirit long after you've turned the last page. While it may not reinvent the genre, it offers a satisfying and emotionally resonant journey that will leave you yearning for more.

One of the strengths of the book lies in Mercer's vivid and immersive world-building, hence why I'll be rating this book 5 out of 5 stars. The plot is engaging, filled with unexpected twists and turns that keep readers on the edge of their seats. The book was well edited with no typographical errors, at least to the best of my knowledge.
