Tropical Scandal by David Myles Robinson is a thrilling legal thriller filled with lots of plot twists and exciting characters. Dayton Kalama is accused of killing his grandmother Eleanor by overdosing her on hydrocodone, a drug for which he was arrested prior to dealing. However, Dayton claims to be innocent of the crime. Pancho McMartin, a criminal defense trial attorney, is brought in to defend him. The trail uncovers a dark web of corruption and secrets that will shake the legal structure of Honolulu. Is Dayton innocent of the crime? Tropical Scandal will take you through this thrilling adventure.

Tropical Scandal is an excellent read. The author is able to put readers in a tensed, thrilling, and suspense-filled environment through the continuous plot twists. One thing readers will enjoy is the tense courtroom experience of the case of State v. Dayton Kalama. Here, Dayton is tried on the accusation of murdering his grandmother. The author is able to present this in a way that readers are left wanting more.

One thing the author did with the book was bring to light some challenges faced by most criminal defense attorneys. Pancho McMartin's continuous stereotype at social events and occasional threat to life, one of which comimg from Jesse James Bateman for failing to acquit him on trial, are ways readers can see how challenging and sometimes dangerous being a criminal defense attorney can be.

Another thing the author didn't leave out is to showcase how corruption can eat into all sectors, including that which is supposed to interpret the law. Readers can see the character Isaac Goldblum, a well-respected attorney, accepting a deal with a prosecutor in exchange for financial rewards. The action taken by Goldblum and the prosecutor goes to show that the challenge of corruption is one that should not be overlooked.

Tropical Scandal is an exciting read; however, one thing readers should take note of is the presence of profinity. Despite this, the editors did a good job, as only one error was noticed. For this, I commend the editors for a professional job. There was nothing I disliked about the book, so I am rating it a 5 out of 5 stars and further recommending it to lovers of thrillers and suspenseful stories.
