I loved this story at a lot of levels. This is why I rated it as an excellent 5 out of 5 read.

The honeymoon couple was cute. The international intrigue was intense. The scientific explanations were easy to understand. The political aspects were easy to recognize. The thought-provoking premise was very scary. The cultural stereotypes were amusing.

It was a little sexy, without being sexual. There were no grammar errors or typos to take me away from the story, leading me to believe the story was professionally edited to create a flawless reading experience. Profanity was light, and used only as expected reactions to extreme situations. The author kept me engaged in all levels of action with an overview of thoughts and reasons. These aspects made the story easy to read.

On the lighter side, do not shop in a store called “Pig Sty”.

I was glad to see our team on the ground working so closely together. But our teams at HQ did have a moment of miscommunication, which was luckily sorted out.

Cultural idioms showed that you can’t just prep a team in a few weeks and expect them to be ready to pretend they’re from a different country. Such as when the San Fernando Valley was confused with the city of San Francisco.

On the other side of the cultural divide, after watching the Dear Leader interact with his people, the reactions of their subordinates were understandable.

The satellite in low orbit had me holding my breath. And watching the timing of the orbit was fascinating. Especially in light of the news in the past few weeks.

Having the author provide a letter to the reader as a final epilogue with the rest of the story, warmed my heart. Especially as a follow-up to those we had been watching and cheering on.

I found this story fun, fast-paced, intelligent, humorous, and enjoyable. It was also scary as it showed a possibility of a future event. We should be prepared for something similar, and hope for the same positive outcome.
