"Hattie Vavaseur" by Rebecca M. Wildsmith is a delightful novel that captures the hearts of readers with its captivating storyline and unforgettable characters. Set against the charming backdrop of the British era in 1920, the book immediately draws readers in with its intriguing premise.

The protagonist, Ms. Hattie Vavaseur, is a feisty and endearing elderly woman who finds herself grappling with memory loss. But rather than succumbing to her condition, she embraces life with a mischievous spirit. From the moment she steps into a taxi without knowing her destination, the journey of laughter and mystery begins.

The grand mansion that becomes the center of the story is a place filled with secrets and enigmatic figures. As Ms. Hattie navigates her way through the mansion, she encounters the enigmatic clairvoyant Vamelda. This meeting sets in motion a series of events that not only lead to the recovery of Hattie's lost memories but also unravel a web of paranormal activities and a captivating murder mystery.

Rebecca Wildsmith's writing style breathes life into each page, skillfully blending humor, suspense, and emotion. I was amazed by the inclusion of the comedic situations that arise from Ms. Hattie's witty one-liners and sassy remarks, which created a delightful atmosphere that left me in fits of laughter, which I would not like to spoil by being spoiler alert.

But "Hattie Vavaseur" is not just about humor; it's a book that tugs at the heartstrings as well. As the layers of mystery are peeled away, readers discover the depth of emotions experienced by the characters. Hattie's determination to regain her memories and uncover the truth, combined with the bonds she forms with the supporting cast, leaves a lasting impression.

Speaking of the supporting characters, each one brings something unique to the narrative. From the stern yet caring master of the mansion to the enigmatic and helpful clairvoyant, the relationships between the characters enrich the story, making it a joy to read.

The absence of profanity or negative aspects adds to the book's charm, making it suitable for a wide range of readers.

In my opinion, "Hattie Vavaseur" deserves five out of five stars for being a literary gem that offers a perfect blend of mystery, humor, and heart. With its well-crafted plot, unforgettable characters, and skillful storytelling, it promises an adventurous and entertaining reading experience that will stay with you long after you've turned the last page. So, pick up "Hattie Vavaseur" and embark on a journey like no other—a journey filled with laughter, intrigue, and the magic of unforgettable memories.
