Review of Sleeping with the enemy
Sleeping With The Enemy: Destiny Snatcher In My Bed by Dr. Joyful Nessa takes the form of a letter to women everywhere. It details how some men can steal women's energy and harvest it for their own gain. It gives a list of 55 warning signs and traits of such men. These warning signs range from physical symptoms such as premature aging to concerns about sexual abuse. It closes with suggestions of what to do if you believe that the man you are in a relationship with is stealing your energy.
This letter is, overall, concise and easy to understand. I enjoyed the simple language utilized. I only spotted a few errors throughout, leading me to believe that it had been professionally edited. It also did not contain strong language or explicit sexual content, making it suitable for any woman in a relationship, regardless of her age. I also thought many of the red flags listed could be applied to anyone's relationship. For example, it warned that your partner being secretive or only seeming interested in sexual contact and no other interactions are big red flags.
I did find the list to be a little repetitive. Some items appeared multiple times and were just worded slightly differently. It might have been better for the author to make a few main categories and then explain them in further detail rather than breaking the red flags into 55 separate entries.
Overall, I rate this letter 3 out of 5 stars. I believe that the content is important, though a little repetitive. If the author had taken out some of the repetition I would have rated it higher. Understanding red flags in relationships is important for all. I will say that the author's direction of energy stealing may not sit well with all audiences. It would be best suited for those who have an open mind to such ideas. It is also geared toward a traditional male and female relationship, though I believe it could be applied to any relationship.
