Review of E M P Honeymoon
E M P Honeymoon by Dorothy May Mercer is a thrilling romantic novel that revolves around Kelly and Tom's perilous honeymoon in Honduras. The story opens when Kelly accidentally stumbles upon an illegal activity while exploring the island. Kelly becomes suspicious when she discovers a computer lab in a gift shop and then finds herself under attack by a stranger. She manages to escape from the attacker and informs Tom what she has found. Tom also visits the gift shop and discovers a large cargo container.
As the plot unfolds, we discover that Colonel Rhee Su-jin and her team embark on a secret mission to Honduras, disguised as tourists from their country, America's bitter enemy. Their objective is to blend in, await the right moment, and execute their country's destructive mission. The novel involves a diverse cast of characters, and how Kelly and Tom face perilous situations while trying to unravel a terrorist conspiracy.
This book is a gripping page-turner filled with twists, accelerating toward a surprising conclusion. The central theme of a potential world without electricity with an electromagnetic pulse attack adds a frightening dimension to the plot. The author skillfully combines thrilling elements with her signature romance, making it a captivating read for fans of the genre.
I like how the opening adeptly establishes the chemistry between Tom and Kelly and the interview with Dr. Peter Kinney, in which he provides a comprehensive explanation of a potent solar flare capable of inflicting significant damage. The quick pacing and engaging banter among the characters add depth to the narrative.
There is nothing I dislike about the book. It is exceptional, as I couldn't find any errors. It seems the book is professionally edited. There is some violence and profanity, but it's not overly graphic. There are no explicit erotic scenes, making it suitable for a wide audience. I rate this book 5 out of 5 stars for its compelling plot and fast-paced storytelling. It's a recommended read for young adults and adults who relish romantic thrillers with an adrenaline-pumping edge.
