Review of Tropical Scandal
Tropical Scandal, a book by David Myles Robinson, is about a man named Pancho McMartin, an intelligent and well-presented criminal attorney. Pancho is invited by Isaac Golblum, a legendary attorney in his 80s who is very ill, to take over a murder case. The case involves a man named Dayton who is accused of the murder of Eleanor Palakiko, a 74-year-old woman who was his grandmother. At first, Pancho is very skeptical about taking this case, so he decides to meet with Dayton to hear his side of the story. After meeting Dayton, Pancho realizes that Dayton is mentally disabled and that there is more to this case than meets the eye. Nothing in this case seems to add up or make any sense. His mother, Gloria, passed away when he was in his early twenties; he had no contact with his dad. Dayton’s grandfather passed away in a motor accident ten years ago. Dayton had relatives that he never knew or met; could they be involved in this crime scandal? All the evidence in the house points to Dayton. With the little that Dayton has told him, Pancho takes the case to support and represent him. Will Attorney Pancho succeed in proving whether Dayton is innocent or guilty? Who is the suspect who murdered his grandmother, and why? What is the motive behind this murder? A captivating crime thriller awaits readers to find out what happens next.
Suspense and mystery can be found in this book. The murder investigation of Dayton’s grandmother uncovers a lot of lies, greed, corruption, and the leaders of the biggest drug cartel in Honolulu. Each chapter keeps the reader wondering what is going to happen next. As you read the book, you will feel like you are the investigator helping to solve this case, putting puzzle pieces together with Pancho’s evidence. As the events in this book unfold, you will keep guessing until the end, which will leave you with unexpected results. There are a lot of twists and turns in this book. Despite numerous obstacles in this investigation, Attorney Pancho begins this murder trial with little understanding of what really happened. He has no backup plan but is determined and focused on solving this case.
My favorite character in the book is Attorney Pancho McMartin. He is intelligent and never fails to give up. He faces his challenges with quick thinking, and just when you think you have solved the case, he leaves you wondering what comes next. Pancho’s performance on the court is outstanding. It felt realistic, like I was sitting at the trial. This book made me realize that in this world of crime, there are so many people who can be charged for crimes they did not commit and sent to prison, while the guilty walk freely. Each chapter introduces many characters that have a special role in this investigation. Pancho has a small circle of people he trusts; for example, Drew Tulafono is an investigator and his best friend, who plays a role in working with Pancho to find information in the case.
The author, David Myles Robinson, is very creative. He describes everything in detail, with tension and action, in the investigation. The beaches and restaurants, including the surfing, on this beautiful island took my imagination to another level. The trial case in the courtroom was beautifully described, making every scene feel realistic. There is nothing in this book that I dislike. The plot is very intriguing and full of suspense. The part I did like about the book is that every time Pancho felt like the case had a dead end, he sought medical advice from his lover, Padma Dasari, who always stood by him and assisted him.
In conclusion, I would like to thank the editor for their professional work and for not finding any errors in this book, making it enjoyable to read. This book has been expertly edited. I rate this book four out of four stars because it helped me gain recognition and understanding for many aspects, such as the lengths people will go to just to get money. I suggest this book to everyone out there who enjoys legal thriller novels. You will not be disappointed.
