“A Confusion in Time” by Phil Clinker is divided into 3 parts and 28 chapters and is set in a narrative tone, as the author uses the first-person singular to describe the sequence of events.

David lives a carefree life on the island. Then, a man named Rufus Allenby claims to be present at the accident, which piques David’s curiosity. He wonders if Rufus truly witnessed the accident that almost took his life. In a bid to find out Rufus’s identity, gunshots erupt and send him running for his dear life.

The series of events that came afterwards came as a shock to David. How could he, without previously having a care in this world, suddenly be on the run from people he knows nothing about? Who was bent on killing him, and why? How were they able to track them to Cave Five?

I like the friendship shared between David and Denver, the guide on the island. I also like the character of Grace, Gregory’s aunt. I’m impressed with the way she welcomed David and his team with open arms. She exudes a motherly nature, which makes people listen to her and follow her advice without question. At Aunt Grace’s house, they try to connect the dots as they come up with a plan. Did they succeed on this? You should read this book to find out.

David is attracted to Miss Robyn Newman, Head of Experimental Research. She worked together with Dr. Rufus until the horrible event that took place. She was aware of some things concerning the experiment but wasn’t given all the details with regards to the experiment performed on David by Dr. Allenby.

The narrative style employed by the author gives the book an easy, conversational tone. At some point, I thought Wolstenholme was the actual enemy, but I was in for a pleasant surprise. Wolstenholme, however, needed David’s help for other means, which David clearly didn’t want to be a part of.

I didn’t notice any negative aspects of the book. I also didn’t spot any errors, which makes the book flawlessly edited. I award this book a rating of 5 out of 5 stars, as there’s no reason to deduct any.

I recommend it to lovers of suspense and thrillers. Readers who love science fiction will equally find it enjoyable.

Oh, great! It's a crime thriller. I can just imagine David's frustration and confusion as he wonders at the sudden change in his life. I can feel the thrill as he does his best to survive attempts on his life.

I’m quite curious to find out why some people are after his life. Did he commit a crime and his memory wiped out, or is he a good man with bad people pursuing him?
