Review of Alaska Deadly
Alaska Deadly is a captivating supernatural thriller novel authored by J.L. Askew. The story follows Race Warren, a private investigator from Memphis, Tennessee, as he embarks on a journey to Alaska to locate a missing man. In this remote part of the world, Race is thrown into a web of secrets involving a cult that worships shapeshifting, a Russian human trafficking ring, and a mysterious creature that is terrifying the locals.
Claire Billings hires Race to find her husband Ron, who has gone missing in the village of Ataqsut, Alaska. Upon arriving in the village, Race discovers strange activities and learns of a recent murder that some locals believe was carried out by a shapeshifter. Meanwhile, Ron has been taken by a Russian human trafficking ring, headed by Viktor Volkov, Myra's brother. Viktor uses the Amarok to keep the locals away from his operation. Race and Myra combine forces to rescue Ron and end Viktor's trafficking ring. They also have to find a means to defeat the Amarok, which presents a great challenge.
I enjoyed the realistic and engaging characters in the novel, including Race Warren. "Alaska Deadly" explores complex themes such as the nature of good and evil, the power of belief, and the importance of family.
The only thing that I did not like about this book is that the novel tries to do too much, and some subplots feel underdeveloped. Nevertheless, this did not affect my reading experience, and I would not give the book less rating due to that.
This novel is a fast-paced and suspenseful novel combining crime, horror, and supernatural fiction elements. Askew skillfully creates an atmosphere of dread, and his characters are complex and believable. The novel also prompts thought on themes such as the nature of good and evil, the power of belief, and the importance of family. I found the book to be free of errors and exceptionally well-edited which is why I want to rate it 5 out of 5 stars.

Thank you for reading my review and I hope you enjoyed the book as well.Gerry Steen wrote: ↑19 Nov 2023, 09:41 Anshika, I enjoyed reading your review of Alaska Deadly. A supernatural thriller novel with a mystery and dangerous foe, like a Russian Human trafficking ring, sounds like an exciting read. I will also enjoy the themes of the nature of good and evil, the power of belief, and the importance of family. I am adding this book to my bookshelves. Have a great day.
