I would definitely recommend The Murder Room by Michael Capuzzo. It is chilling to think that these were actual events and not fiction, but inspiring to see experts from different fields working togetger to solve the unsolveable cases. Great, yet sobering, read.

Please, I can't seem to find any that fit what I want😭
I love Joe Hill. The Heart-Shaped box was amazing! He is stephen kings son, but is totally different from him.
Thanks for the rec! I'll check him (and the story) out.

I loved the Silent Patient! I liked The Maidens by them even more, though. Dark academia and greek mythology vibes.

I hope this is the right forum to make this request. If it’s not, this is me saying a HUGE sorry to the moderators.

I’m looking for good horror books to fit the Halloween season. Most of the stuff I saw on google were either books I didn’t find interesting, or books I’ve already read. If you see this, please help a girl out and recommend some good horror novels to fit the spooky season. Thank you!

I highly recommend "The Silent Patient" by Alex Michaelides or "Goodnight Beautiful" by Aimee Molloy. Both books kept me on the edge, asking for more. These were both one-sitting reads for me, as I just couldn't put them down!

Crime - it has to be Michael Connelly.
Horror - I'd still go with Stephen King although I don't love all of them.

Ruth Ware is one of my favorite authors. She writes thrillers that remind me so much of the late Agatha Christie. I am currently reading One by One. A company weekend away together in the snowy mountain resort to discuss the future of the business is called under curious pretenses. When one by one they realize they are in danger, they also realize there is no escape, as an avalanche falls directly in the path of the building. Who survives? Who is there for the wrong reasons? I am loving this book.

One I recommend all the time to those who love paranormal horror; The Exorcist's House by Nick Roberts. It's an atmospheric haunted house novel following a family who just moved into their new home only to find that they've got ghosts. Roberts' writing style is great and the dialogue between characters helps the reader make an early connection with them. The haunting element is pretty spooky and may have you double-checking when you hear a weird noise in your house at night.
