I was captivated from the get-go with Dorothy May Mercer's E M P Honeymoon. The story unfolds in the scenic backdrop of Barefoot Sand Resort and Spa in Honduras, where Kelly and Tom Turbulo's honeymoon takes an unexpected turn. As Tom embarks on a dive boat adventure, Kelly, with a sense of adventure, opts for an island excursion. Little did she know that her spontaneous exploration would lead her to La Pocilga, a shop with a name as intriguing as its secrets.

The narrative takes an intense twist when Kelly stumbles upon a possible terrorist operation. Fearing for her safety, she reaches out to her brother, Senator Mike McBride, initiating a gripping tale of danger, suspense, and the race against time to thwart a potential threat to the United States. Mercer skillfully weaves together elements of suspense, humor, and romance, creating a rollercoaster of emotions that had me hooked from the prelude to the epilogue.

The characters are vividly portrayed, each with their unique perspectives adding depth to the narrative. I appreciated the shifts in perspective, particularly from the eyes of unexpected characters, providing a multifaceted view of the unfolding events. Even a terrorist's viewpoint offered insight into the tourist locations, adding an extra layer of intrigue.

The pace is relentless, maintaining a gripping momentum throughout the approximately 250 pages. Mercer seamlessly incorporates humor and subtle references to the real world, making the narrative feel authentic and relatable. While the fast-paced action is exhilarating, there are moments where a slower pace might have added more suspense. However, the flaw is minor and doesn't detract significantly from the overall enjoyment of the novel.

What sets E M P Honeymoon apart is its masterful blend of suspense, humor, and romance. Mercer successfully keeps the reader engaged with well-visualized scenes, mature character development, and a plot that keeps you guessing. The book's flawless editing reflects the author's commitment to delivering a polished reading experience.

In conclusion, I wholeheartedly rate the book 5 out of 5 stars. As a reader, I was not only entertained but also emotionally invested in the characters and their journey. I highly recommend this book to lovers of science fiction who crave a perfect blend of suspense, humor, and romance. Dorothy May Mercer has crafted a compelling narrative that will keep you enthralled from start to finish.
