Review of E M P Honeymoon
Newlyweds Kelly and Tom, fresh from celebrating their marriage, set off on a honeymoon journey to Honduras. While exploring on their own, Kelly stumbles upon a store called The Pigsty and unexpectedly discovers a hidden laboratory while searching for gifts. As she tries to make sense of her findings, Kelly finds herself pursued by mysterious individuals. Acting swiftly, she contacts her brother, Mike McBride, revealing the details of her discovery during the pursuit. The narrative unfolds as investigations reveal the secrets hidden within The Pigsty that Kelly stumbled upon.
McBride, a U.S. Senator, mobilizes his security team, led by Cynthia, and sends them to Honduras for further inquiries. The shop Kelly uncovered turns out to be a base for the enemy's missile attacks on North America. A collaboration between the CIA, the Space Force, and McBride's security team ensues as they work together to devise a rescue plan for the nation. The critical question remains: can they neutralize the threat before it becomes a catastrophic reality? The answers lie within the pages of this gripping cybercrime thriller.
The unfolding tale is intricately woven, showcasing dynamic characters like General Lee and Lieutenant Rhee Su-jin, though the latter could have been more fully explored. A notable addition to the narrative is the interview with Dr. Peter Kinney, elucidating the science behind solar flares and EMP, which enriches the storytelling. Dorothy May Mercer, a gifted and imaginative writer, effortlessly captivates readers from the initial page to the concluding sentence. Within this book, Mercer adeptly crafts a narrative centered around a terrorist organization. One standout aspect is the narrative's ability to delve into the antagonist's perspective, offering a unique and thought-provoking reading experience.
Kelly and Tom form an endearing married couple, portrayed through conversations that beautifully combine sincere warmth and humor. As I read, I found myself rooting for them, drawn in by the lighthearted banter exchanged during their exploration of the resort island. The authenticity of their relationship adds a genuine depth to the plot, enhancing the overall immersion in the story.
However, I only have a dislike for 'E M P Honeymoon'. The rocket images at the conclusion of each chapter seemed misplaced. It looks amateurish and could have been better integrated with a more cohesive background. However, this won't affect the rating of this book.
I would give this book a rating of 5 out of 5 stars. The book was error-free, too. I recommend this book to readers who enjoy immersive narratives with well-developed characters, especially those who appreciate a blend of sincere warmth and humor in depicting relationships. If you appreciate stories that balance lighthearted banter with genuine depth, this book could be an engaging choice for you.
