Review of Believing Her
To boost sales, Joseph, the CEO of Keruac Plastics, chooses to replace the marketing manager due to years of a consistent drop in sales. Although in another position in the company, the former marketing manager resents her replacement. She is determined to do whatever it takes to get rid of him and regain her former position. To what extent will she go?
When Richard Trent, a prominent advertising and marketing executive, is charged with the aggravated rape and assault of a coworker, his entire life comes crumbling down. There is evidence suggesting that Richard is responsible for the crime. However, it seems like there's more to the case than meets the eye. What will be his fate? Find out in Believing Her.
I was impressed by David Colquitt's book; it was excellent. It had numerous outstanding aspects.
The quality of the book is impressive for a first novel. David writes like an experienced author, incorporating essential elements that most authors find difficult in his book. One of these elements is the book's capacity to arouse emotion in the reader simply by reading it. With specific narrative descriptions, David Colquitt's skill with language allows the reader to experience the emotions in particular scenes. One scene that stands out is the one in which Janice confronts Richard. Tension, fear, and thrill are feelings the reader might experience when reading that section of the novel. It feels like you have just gotten off a rollercoaster after reading Believing Her because it is such an emotionally charged book.
The author successfully infused suspense into the story. A lot of tension contributed to the suspense and made it enticing. With tension in the opening scene—the break-in at Dani's apartment—the author effectively aroused my interest. Once I started reading the book, I became engrossed in the plot and couldn't put it down until I was finished.
It was unpredictable because the author included many unexpected and surprising turns in the story. This also added to the book's enjoyment.
The book's editing was professionally done. I didn't find anything unpleasant about the book. Therefore, I'd give the book a perfect rating of 5 out of 5 stars. I'd recommend it to lovers of highly tensed and emotionally charged thrillers.
