Review of The Middle Reaches (Episodes 1-8)
The book The Middle Reaches is a fictional horror story written by L. Andrew Cooper. It begins with one of the characters (Nick) having a strange, frightening dream in which he finds himself in a damp, scary creek. The dream is sensual pain mixed with pleasure and he appears to be enjoying it to some extent. His friend who presumably died there appeared in the dream; Nick could hear his voice but not see him; he was in distress, and we heard Nick say that he was going to help him- keep in mind that this is only a dream.
He was dreaming about an incident that happened to them while they were in high school and he and his friends visited a scary, strange place. From what I could tell, they did all sorts of things that teenagers do, such as having sex with each other and trying to fulfill their teen fantasies. It’s during their adventure they mysteriously lost their friend. They all disclosed that they were having disturbing dreams too. Their dreams were about this strange and scary place. The friends who are now grown up had a sort of reunion where they were reminiscing over the past, It was strange but they all decided to revisit that place. The following day, they all met up and went. First, they had a picnic. The picnic seemed uneventful, but that was the calm before the storm. What happened after they could finish the picnic would shock you-the place is spooky. In Episode 7, page 4 they ask each other “You saying you’re not scared?” Pedro asked. He and Ambrose were looking at the same thing. “I’m terrified,” Ambrose said. “You saw it first, so I’m blaming you.” Leslie finally looked. She gasped. Celia looked and whimpered. Nick looked. His face was impassive, but his body went rigid. Peering around a tree, a tree too close to them, was the creature”.You should definitely check out this book series if you want to learn more.
I can’t stop thinking about why they made such a choice now as rational adults. Even they wondered the same. Continue reading to learn more. On page 5 of Episode 5 Celia asks, "What brings me here?" Speaking much more like herself, Celia said. "Why did I return here? The dreams themselves are quite horrible”. That’s a Good question, Celia! You folks went back there, but why? The question that keeps lingering in my mind is why they chose to return to the place where their companion vanished inexplicably—possibly murdered—and where they felt haunted. I can sort of understand why they went the first time; after all, they were teens, and teenagers tend to do dumb things. As the writer states in Episode 7 On page 14” Many dog-ish creatures howled at once. They’d been kids. Stupid kids who’d made it out alive. That time”. Do you believe they will survive this time around? We know for sure they were having a terrible time but mostly Celia did, as we hear in Episode 8 She yelled “Dead! Dying! Help me! Celia gulped a lung-ranking gulp of air as she flailed and tore her skin. Dead! Dying! Help me!”
This book has a lot of positive aspects. You want to keep reading to see what happens in the novel. I appreciate how the author kept us in suspense. The book is well-written, simple to read, exciting, and engaging. The book is a page-turner, so you won't find it all that difficult to finish. It's hard not to enjoy this book. I can't think of anything negative about it. Perhaps in other series that I haven't read, but I doubt it. Because this book is wonderfully written and I enjoyed it, I give it a rating of 5 out of 5 stars.
The book is for entertainment purposes and is fictional. I believe that anyone who is a fan of fiction and horror should read this book. But one piece of advice that I would give is that if you're easily spooked by scary stories, this is not the book to read right before bed.
