Review of E M P Honeymoon
EMP Honeymoon is written by Dorothy May Mercy and is a follow-on to her previous book, Cynthia and Dan. The theme is terrorists. In this novel, we follow two protagonists, Kelly and Tom Turbulo, as they enjoy their honeymoon. The honeymoon they are on is not the average honeymoon you would expect. As they enjoy their honeymoon, a series of events occur that change their honeymoon from a loving, relaxing one to an all-hands-on-deck action-packed honeymoon. If you have an interest in and wish to follow the journey that Kelly and Tom Turbulo are on, you should get yourself a copy of this book. You will not be disappointed.
The novel begins by setting the scene in Honduras, where Kelly and Tom chose to spend their honeymoon after previously marrying. This is supposed to be a happy time for their pair, but the events that follow threaten quietness and time alone. The drama begins when Kelly decides to take a tour around Honduras and see what it has to offer. A gift shop caught her eye, and she decides to take a quick detour to it for presents for her family back home. As she was ready to leave, she went to find the clerk whom she thought she had seen a couple of minutes before, and she stumbled across a door that had danger written above it and was shocked at what she saw inside. Within seconds, she ran out of the shop, but a man got to her first and tried to hurt her, but with courage and all her strength, she got away. Many events occurred after this, and Tom and Kelly found themselves solving the mystery. But what did Kelly find, and did this have anything to do with the mystery they needed to solve?
This book is a captivating read from start to finish. I liked the language used throughout the book. The language was simple, engaging, and easy to understand, which prompted me to have a smooth read and connect with the characters. The development of the characters was obvious and clear, which again allowed me to connect with the readers. The style in which the author writes fits the proposed audience, and I liked this. I adored the character development of Cynthia. We see Cynthia in the first novel in this series, and I was pleased that the author carried her development on. The part that Cynthia plays in this book is unique, and I loved it. Furthermore, I enjoyed the humour displayed in the book. Specifically, I liked the line "Pretty please, with sugar on it.” This line did make me giggle, and I liked that. The photos at the beginning of the book allow readers to visually understand some of the information given in the novel, and again, I liked this.
In relation to the negative aspects of the book, I do not believe there is room for improvement. The book is error-free, which leads me to believe the book was professionally edited. I found myself engrossed in the book and the character development. I was eager to find out whether the mission was a success.
In conclusion, I loved the book. I hope that there is a third sequel to this book. The errors in the book were nonexistent, which allowed me to have an enjoyable experience reading this book. With all these points and those explained above, I feel that the correct rating for this book is 5 out of 5 stars. It is clear that the author is an exceptional writer, and I cannot wait for more books written about her. I feel that this book may be best suited to those of mature age and those who enjoy drama.
