Soul Seeker was a two part, thrilling, easy-to-read book. I have rated this book 5 out of 5. It was excellent in theme, it kept my interest, and it was flawless. The chapters flowed easily into each other, and my attention was captured from the very beginning of the book. There were multiple instances of borderline and direct profanity in the book. There were light sexual references within the book. The details and imagery in Soul Seeker were phenomenal. Every sentence painted a clear picture of what the author was conveying. Soul Seeker focused on multiple cases where a demon has come into the world to collect the souls of mortal sinners. The torment that the demon puts the sinners through is enormous and life-altering. The descriptions given by the sinners are intense and believable. These mortal sinners have unjustly taken the lives of the innocent, and the demon believes it is time for them to own up to what they did and pay for their wrongful deeds.
Part I, particularly, focused on a family where a young man unjustly takes the lives of three others at his workplace. The father and consequently the Fire Chief of the town, confronts his son about the murders and he ends up in his own life and death situation. Soul Seeker kept the reader guessing as to what could have led to current events in the characters’ lives that would lead a green-eyed demon to become part of their present lives. The only negative aspect of this book was the immediate change of setting, characters, and plot from Part I to Part II. It was such an abrupt change from Part I to Part II that I was unsure if I was still reading the same book. However, the author eventually referenced the first half of the book within Part II. The second part of the book focused more on the realms of heaven and hell and their inhabitants. The inhabitants included lower and higher levels demons and angels. This was interesting, as it showed the interconnections of events and figures in hell and heaven.
There was superlative figurative language that enhanced the author’s writing and increased the overall detail in the book. I was unable to find any typos in this book. In fact, this is one of the best edited books I have read. The writing in Soul Seeker was absolutely superb. The book whisked me away into its fantasy world each and every time I picked up the book.
