Stark Justice by T.W. Small is a book about people in a small town called Wheathaven and what happens after a horrific accident involving two of its residents. Darci Kneymeyer is Colonel Benson's daughter and Daryl Kneymeyer's wife. Darci is having an affair with her ex-high school boyfriend, Michael Crafton. Little does Darci know she is not the only woman that Michael is having an affair with. After leaving Michael's place one morning, she heads to work, which entails going to her father's ranch and driving a wheat truck during harvest time. She calls the huge truck "The Beast."

Meanwhile, Elmer Stark is also driving to the Colonel's ranch to pick up excess feed left on the ranch to feed his animals. The Colonel said he could take the wheat for free since Elmer was poor. He is a jockey and also shoes horses but barely makes minimum wage.

"The Beast," with Darci behind the wheel, drives down the road going East, and Elmer is driving West. Neither sees the other in time, and there is a terrible collision. Darci does not get hurt, but Elmer is barely alive since the wheat truck ran over his VW. The jaws of life have to be used to extricate him from the wreckage, and he is rushed to the hospital. Pick up the book to determine if Elmer made it and who was responsible for the accident. Who is telling the truth, and who is the one lying about what happened that morning?

The book was very engaging and kept my interest until the very end. There was nothing that I did not like about the book. The characters were well-developed, and you felt you knew them and their personalities. The author's writing was smooth, flowing, and easy to read. He kept you invested in the story from beginning to end. The book was well-edited, as I only found one error. I will gladly give this book 5 out of 5 stars, as it was one of the best books I have read. I recommend this book to anyone interested in reading a good book on a Sunday afternoon. I do not think that it is suitable for young adults as there is mention of extramarital affairs.

Shirley, I have been tempted to select this book for some time. It sounds like there is a good amount of suspense and a "who-done-it" element, which I can readily appreciate. What about this particular book makes it one of the best you've read?! Until next time...

It was not only the characters in the book that made it so interesting, but it seemed that just when you thought you knew what was going to happen, there was a twist and it ended up going in a different direction. I highly recommend the book and I hope that you find it enjoyable, as I did.
