Bounty by J.D. Cunegan is a fictional story reminiscent of Robocop and Daredevil.

This story is about a Baltimore policewoman, Jill Anderson, who has many several secrets. Her largest secret is that she is a cyborg, who was created by a scientist who winds up dead in her precinct. Not only does she fight crime as a detective, but also at night, she fights crime as a vigilante.

When Jill finds out that a rich businessman might be behind the murder of the scientist who created her, she decides that she must take matters into her own hands and take care of him. With the help of her partner she attempts to figure out how to take down this man who seems untouchable. Her secret identity is threatened and Jill has to decide whom she can trust with this secret.

This story is a mixture of science fiction, mystery, and action. It is a quick read and is well written. If you have ever seen the movie Robocop then the idea of a cyborg police officer is nothing new. The new Netflix show called Daredevil is about a vigilante fighting crime at night in disguise. If these stories are combined then you get this book.

This novel brings up several controversial issues, such as possible false imprisonment, the difference between right and wrong, and that power and prestige can blind others to a person’s true being. The false imprisonment is brought up with the backstory of Jill’s father being put in jail for murder. This accusation will cost him his life if Jill cannot prove that he is innocent. Jill is conflicted through the entire story about whether she is doing the right thing by being a vigilante. The rich businessman is respected by nearly everyone in the city, even though he has been under investigation for bad things he is suspected of doing.

I truly enjoyed this novel. I liked the action in it. I really liked the characters in the story as well. There were very few spelling errors, such as the addition of an “h” at the beginning of the word “as”. I will rate this book 3 out of 4 stars. The only reason I do not want to give this book four stars is because it is so similar plot-wise with Robocop and Daredevil. I feel like this book is not as original as it should have been. Overall though, I would recommend this book to all readers. There are no inappropriate parts and nothing is too violent for younger readers.

A good review. I agree that it doesn't sound like an original story, but I will give it a try since I love the vigilante crime fighter genre.

Sounds like a very interesting story. I loved Robocop when I was young and I watched Daredevil and I think I'm going to enjoy this book. Too bad, though, about the errors. Good job on the review.
