Pulse: Book One by B.A. Bellec immerses readers in a futuristic 2040, a world where technology reigns supreme, setting the stage for a clandestine battle of monumental proportions. Within this narrative tapestry, Pietro, a dedicated member of the secretive Anti-P, embarks on a perilous journey to unveil the deceptive utopia crafted by Pulse, all in the name of safeguarding nature's fragile balance. Meanwhile, Amber, a synthetic creation abandoned by her creators, finds herself drawn into the folds of Anti-P's mission at Pulsefest, where she confronts unexpected horrors that challenge her very existence.

As chaos escalates, the narrative introduces us to E, a detective navigating the intricate web of this dystopian reality, and Eric, a disillusioned Pulse creator caught in the crossfire of unfolding nightmares. Pulse, initially designed for benevolent purposes, takes an unforeseen and sinister turn, unravelling a complex tapestry of intrigue and danger. The reader is invited to unravel these mysteries, woven seamlessly into the fabric of a gripping sci-fi narrative.

Beyond the riveting plot, Bellec skillfully employs the futuristic setting to explore profound themes. The narrative becomes a cautionary tale, addressing the unchecked influence of technology and the perilous dominance of powerful corporations in our lives. The storyline serves as a mirror reflecting a potential, realistic future if we allow ourselves to be consumed by these forces. Global warming emerges as a palpable threat, a consequence of pollution, with increased carbon dioxide levels and rising temperatures painting a grim picture of environmental degradation.

For aficionados of the genre, Pulse: Book One is a must-read. I unequivocally rate this book 5 out of 5 stars. Notably, the prose is exceptionally well-edited, ensuring an error-free immersive reading experience that captivates from beginning to end. I didn't find any negative aspects.

In the face of numerous awareness programs addressing humanity's impact on the environment, a pervasive ignorance persists, leaving individuals vulnerable to the manipulative tactics of corporations exploiting their lack of awareness. This subtle social commentary adds layers of depth to the narrative, elevating it beyond a conventional sci-fi tale.
