E M P Honeymoon by Dorothy May Mercer throws newlyweds Kelly McBride and Tom McBride into a thrilling adventure as their Caribbean honeymoon takes a dangerous turn. While exploring a local market, Kelly stumbles upon a hidden plot involving a devastating EMP (electromagnetic pulse) attack aimed at crippling the United States and Canada. Kelly, with her sharp investigative instincts, and Tom, with his military expertise, find themselves in the crosshairs of a dangerous organization. Thrown into a whirlwind of espionage and suspense, they must work together to expose the plot and prevent a technological catastrophe, all while navigating the complexities of their new marriage.

The book has a captivating beginning and ending. It is a fast-paced action novel. The novel blends the classic honeymoon trope with a thrilling espionage plot. This unexpected combination keeps the reader engaged and adds a layer of unexpectedness to the narrative. The constant threat from the EMP attack creates a sense of urgency and excitement. The author's idea of explaining the meaning of the EMP attack from a layman's perspective is a nice idea, so that the reader can get what the action content of the novel is all about. The book subtly references the potential dangers of EMP attacks, sparking reader curiosity about a real-world threat without getting overly technical or bogging down the narrative. The book has a realistic setting that makes the plot more engaging and shows me how global threats are being handled gently.

The negative aspect of this book is that the romantic content was sidelined. While the book cleverly uses the honeymoon setting as a backdrop, the romantic element takes a backseat to the action-packed plot. I find the romantic content underdeveloped. I wasn't fully happy with that. Nevertheless, I still rate the book 5 out of 5 stars. The underdeveloped romance plot did not affect my rating. The book is exceptionally well edited. Fans of quick reads with a blend of genres will find this book an enjoyable escape.
