The One Who Searched by Lance Luciani is a compelling detective thriller about Detective Drozd and a serial killer who has been killing for 25 years. In Monessen, Pennsylvania, where Detective Drozd is based, there's been a body discovered. The murder is so unusual and out of the norm for the detective, but he is relentless in finding out who's responsible for the murder. His investigation leads him to several other unsolved murders with similar circumstances surrounding their deaths, and he also has the help of Special Agent Carlos of the Federal Bureau of Investigation and his team to help trace the killer. Their search helped them identify various victims, beginning in 1988. Detective Drozd is searching for a serial killer, and the killer as well is searching for answers. Who will find what they are searching for first?
 
The author showcases thorough detective work in this book. He gives the readers a thorough breakdown of the procedures taken whenever there's a murder, from the securing of the crime scene to the preliminary findings to the identification of the suspect and notifying relatives, etc. It is a good detective novel that contains all the necessary ingredients and qualities to keep the readers entertained. There are surprising twists in the book, so it is not just a straightforward, quick case that is just solved at once. The author created both the detective and the killer as intelligent characters, which makes the story more interesting and the search more intriguing. The suspense and the thrill are there till the very end.
 
There are many things I enjoyed about the book, but the one I would take out as the most outstanding is the brilliance and relentlessness of Detective Drozd. The opportunity was there for him to just take the easy way out at the beginning and end the case, but when his instinct told him something was off, he decided to follow his instinct. His professionalism is also another reason I enjoyed reading the novel. He adhered to the three basic ingredients when finding the culprit of any crime: "means, motive, and opportunity."
 
It was a great experience reading this novel; the author's writing style was easy to understand, and I was able to follow the story without much stress. There were times while reading the book that I had a good laugh. It was quite funny while reading some of the conversations between some of the characters. I must commend the author for such a wonderful novel and the editor for such impeccable editing. The chapters were well arranged, and that gave the book an orderly look. 
 
I rate this book 5 out of 5 stars. The thrill of the search, the detailed investigative work, the brilliant and tenacious detective, and the twist all make this a novel worthy of a perfect rating. This book is perfect for anyone who loves a good detective story or a serial killer novel. Another praiseworthy feature is the absence of any negative aspects in the book.
