For instance, the swift shifts in location and events, such as the transition from the apartment to the scene with her six-year-old self, and back to the apartment, left me momentarily bewildered. I know dreams can be ambiguous and unpredictable at times, but I felt an extra effort should have been made to guide the reader through for a more enjoyable read. Additionally, the use of different names for Iris further exacerbated this confusion, making it challenging to track her journey cohesively.
Despite these narrative hiccups, Athena excels in infusing the story with raw emotions that resonate with readers. The portrayal of characters experiencing a range of feelings, from worry and anxiety to hope and anticipation, adds depth and authenticity to the narrative.
