E.M.P. Honeymoon: Kelly and Tom.
Dorothy May Mercer.

E.M.P. Honeymoon is an electrifying, compelling, and somewhat chilling novel. E.M.P. stands for Electro Magnetic Pulse, and the reader will learn just how dangerous an E.M.P. attack can be. The terrors of a nuclear attack are all made possible in this book. Tom and Kelly are in Honduras for their honeymoon. Tom is a police sergeant, and Kelly is the sister of the U.S. Senator, Michael McBride. Honduras: a beautiful country with sunny stretches of beach, azure sky and sea: how can this peaceful place be the centre of a web of terror instigated by the 'Dear Leader', the head of a Korean country? Tom and Kelly discover a suspicious shipping container and decide to investigate further. A special C.I.A. team arrive, Sharon and Aggie, and they walk a tightrope of danger along with Steve. Colonel Rhee Su-Jin (alias Sue Lynn Reese) and her Korean team are in place to receive a satellite shipment and start the process of the E.M.P. obliteration of Canada and the U.S. The Dear Leader smirks at President Bigelow's proud T.V. announcement of the newly formed Space Force.

The book contains some chilling realities. In 2012, the sun had a substantial coronal mass ejection, a 'superflare,' which narrowly missed our planet. It could have wiped out our computer networks, plunging us into 'the dark ages'.

I liked how we got to know the characters and their strengths and weaknesses, proving they were ordinary people, not super-human heroes.

Although the plot was fairly complex, the story was easy to follow and developed well, with the action revving up in the book's last third. It was well edited with no grammatical errors, and I see no reason not to award it with a 5 out of 5-star rating, with an all-round audience of young adults and older.
