"The Devil's in the Daughter" by Melvin P. Tiley begins with the apparent suicide of Colin Jarvis, leaving his daughter Freja and wife Karin devastated. However, Karin's suspicions led to the revelation that Colin's death might not have been suicide after all. Years later, after Karin's passing, Freja discovers evidence suggesting foul play involving Colin's business partners, Gideon Jupp and Brian Guilfoyle. Determined to uncover the truth, Freja moves to London to start afresh and investigate her father's death. In London, Freja reconnects with her parents' friends, forming a circle that includes the Guilfoyles, Jupps, and Connaughtons. As Freja delves deeper into her father's case, she faces numerous challenges and threats. Despite the obstacles, Freja persists in uncovering the truth behind her father's murder with the help of a dedicated police team led by Acting Detective Chief Inspector C. Dawson. Did she succeed in her mission? Find out in the book.

This book offers a gripping tale of family secrets, betrayal, and determination. Tiley weaves together a web of intrigue, keeping readers on the edge of their seats until the very end. With well-developed characters and a compelling storyline, the book leaves readers eager for more. I thoroughly enjoyed the novel's twists and turns.

The captivating narratives, thrilling turns, and nuanced characters in this murder mystery book enthrall me. This is not just an entertaining story; it is also an educational tool that provides insights into psychology, forensic science, and investigation procedures. Not only are readers drawn into solving the mystery, but they are also learning about the complexities involved in solving crimes. Reading is both cognitively challenging and thrilling since each page turn presents them with fresh hints and opportunities for deductive reasoning.

There is nothing I dislike about this book. The murderous beginning of this book piques my curiosity and makes me want to find out why Colin Jarvis was dragged off his balcony. After opening a box her deceased mother had left behind, the book features Freja as a prominent character because of her incredible bravery and tenacity. Fearless in the face of peril and uncertainty, Freja takes a risk by moving to London—the city where her father, Colin, died tragically. In addition to demonstrating her courage, Freja's unrelenting search for answers highlights her steadfast devotion to and affection for her father. Her bold mission draws me in. The resilience of Freja's character in the face of hardship is admirable.

In this book, Jiera Patel emerges as my favorite character because she shows perseverance despite her initial lack of detective expertise. Jiera dedicates all of her time, energy, and resources to solving the murder of Colin Jarvis, driven by her unshakable dedication to justice. Jiera is unwavering in her quest for the truth, despite the challenges and disappointments encountered along the way. Jiera transforms along the way from a rookie detective to a powerful force that defies norms and shatters barriers in the pursuit of justice.

This book is excellently edited. I rate this book five out of five stars because of the characters' development. I recommend this book to fans of suspenseful mysteries.
