Alright, let's dive into "Like My Mother Before Me" by Naley Gonzalez. This book is a wild ride, and I mean that in the best way possible. It's got a solid 5 out of 5 stars from me, and here's why.

Firstly, the story hooks you in with Alizé Salvas, this spoiled, self-centered daddy's girl who's all about texting, cutting class, and volleyball. But then, boom! She sees something straight out of a horror flick in her dad's study—a skeletal woman just vanishes into thin air. Talk about a bad trip, right? And that's just the start. Alizé's life spirals into this crazy mess of visions and ghosts that's got her—and us—questioning what's real and what isn't.

Naley Gonzalez has a knack for making you feel like you're right there with Alizé, trying to figure out if she's losing her mind or if her family's past is more messed up than a reality TV show. The way Gonzalez weaves in the supernatural with Alizé's personal demons? Chef's kiss. It's like a puzzle you can't stop trying to solve. I also loved the teenage flirting scene with Martin, as it made me giggle like a teenager.

Now, let's talk about the elephant in the room—what's not to love? Well, for starters, the content warnings are no joke. We're talking about light violence, attempted rape, abuse, and drug use. It's heavy stuff, and it won't be everyone's cup of tea. Plus, the pacing and trend felt like a rollercoaster that's lost its brakes—intense and not always in a good way. Sometimes I just wanted to tell Alizé to take a breather, you know?

But here's the thing: even with the tough topics and the whirlwind pace, "Like My Mother Before Me" is a gripping tale. It's about facing the truth, no matter how ugly, and finding strength you didn't know you had. It's raw, it's real, and it's got that edge-of-your-seat vibe that keeps you flipping pages way past your bedtime. I found about four errors in the book, but they didn't impact the experience.

So, if you're down for a book that's a little dark, a lot intense, and totally immersive, give this one a go. Just maybe leave the lights on, yeah? And remember, it's not just a ghost story—it's a journey through the shadows to find the light. That's what makes it a solid 5-star read in my book.
