A Failure To Act by Scott Prior

This action thriller grabs our attention right from the opening chapter. We see a massive blast tearing down the building of the Central Police Monitoring Unit (CPMU), taking the life of Peter Jacks, an intelligent, brave, and respected police officer. His colleagues, shaken by his death, quickly form a task force to investigate the attack. The team, comprising Greg Blackwell and Paul Edwards, led by Police Inspector David Parker, is determined to avenge their friend's murder. Joined by other grieving and loyal workers and assisted by the Major and the Commissioner, the team hastens to unravel the case. The situation quickly escalates with more bombings, and the investigation leads them to uncover a deadly master plan by a ruthless assassin. Will they dig out the truth behind the attacks? Can they foil the master plan? Grab the book and embark on a rollercoaster ride to learn what happened.

As an action lover, I was greatly captivated by the book cover. The font style used for the book title stands out. The blurb attracted me and made me pick up this book. I am delighted about this decision, as I immensely enjoyed the thrilling reading experience.

The author's magnificent descriptions, elegant writing style, cohesive plot, and spectacular comprehensibility elevate the novel to the next level. He has a good comical sense, which is evident in the book, especially through the Joe character. Even in grave scenes, the author has infiltrated a little funniness. His portrayal of emotions and relationships in the characters is spellbinding. It helps us become engrossed in the book and resonate with the various characters. I was especially intrigued by Russell Hooper. Most of the characters have interesting backstories. The dialogue between the characters shows compassion and care for one another. It reveals the tender emotions inside the tough police heart.

The various elements of the puzzle pieces are brought together by the author at the end very effectively. It works out well, and I am satisfied with the ending.

The following dialogue I found in the book strikes a chord with me.
"It's always the innocent who pay the steepest price."

I loved the detailing in the shooting scenes, especially the one involving Dianne. As the author is into rallying, you can see many characters who rally, and the rallying scenes are breathtaking. You can see many technical details related to bombs, guns, submarines, etc., adding an authentic effect to the novel.

Each chapter has a heading, taken from a sentence inside the chapter. I like this technique, and it made me fantasize about what might happen in that chapter.

The author's passion for the action thriller genre can be vividly seen in the book. The action sequences are well executed, and I enjoyed them a lot. A good book is impossible to put down, and this one is truly a page-turner. Various elements like collateral damage, assassination, smuggling, army operations, etc. are incorporated into the book, which will satiate the hunger of any action lover. This book has a great plot that can be made into a movie.

I noticed a few errors. Other than that, the editing is incredible. I have no complaints, so I rate this book 5 out of 5 stars.

Wow! Priya, it looks like you found a winner. Your review shows how much you loved this action thriller. From reading your review, I know I will not be disappointed. The bombing of a police station and the resulting death of a police officer get my adrenaline pumping as a reader. I want to see how this all plays out and how the terrorist is stopped.
