Review of E M P Honeymoon
EMP Honeymoon by Dorothy May Mercer is a thriller that takes readers on an adrenaline-fueled journey through a world ravaged by electromagnetic pulses (EMPs). The story follows Kelly and Tom, a young couple celebrating their honeymoon at an island resort in Honduras. As Tom was out with the dive boat, Kelly decided to take an excursion bus tour to explore the locality. The actual threat comes into play when Kelly goes to a tiny gift shop to purchase gifts for her nephews and nieces and accidentally bumps into the world of terror and mystery. She soon came to know that the shop entrance was fake and concealed in a high-tech lab with mysterious machines and computers. She somehow managed to escape from there, but then she informed Michael McBride, who is a crusading United States Senator.
As the story moves forward, his husband, Tom Turbulo, who is a Carson City Police Sgt., also gets involved, and they both try to find the mystery behind the Pigsty Gift Shop. Meanwhile, across the oceans, terrorists are planning a very big EMP explosion in South America in Kansas City, and they planted their launchpad in Honduras. After the information given by Kelly and Tom, all the forces of the USA start working together and form a USA team in Honduras. All the character development is great; my favorite character is Steve, who is CIA and also on the same mission as Kelly and Tom, and then becomes part of the USA team.
Moreover, the pacing of the novel is expertly handled, keeping readers on the edge of their seats from start to finish. Each chapter is filled with pulse-pounding action and unexpected twists, ensuring that there is never a dull moment in the story.
The book is very well-edited, as I did not find any errors. I have to rate it 5 out of 5 stars because of its great plot and also because the technical part is explained very well, especially by Dr. Peter Kenney.
In conclusion, "EMP Honeymoon" is a must-read for fans of action-fueled thrillers. With its compelling characters, immersive world-building, very detailed description of every scene narrated in the book, and heart-pounding suspense, Dorothy May Mercer delivers an unforgettable tale that will keep readers enthralled until the very last page.
