Review of E M P Honeymoon
The novel “EMP Honeymoon” by the author Dorothy May Mercer is about the events that take place between a terrorist group that aims to attack North America and Canada using an electromagnetic pulse (EMP) and a group of people who try to break the attempt at a terrorist attack. Kelly and Tom Turbulo, newlyweds, were on their honeymoon trip on a Honduras island when they discovered a terrorist group. Kelly was the younger sister of Mike McBride, a senator from New Mexico, and Tom Turbulo was a cop in the CCPD.
When Kelly informed her brother of the terrorist group's discovery, a group of two women were sent to safeguard the honeymoon couple by Cynthia Patterson, Mike’s secretary, and a private investigator. With this group of four members, there comes Steve Spalding, a CIA special agent who unexpectedly adjoins the crew for the operation to stop and destroy the attempt of attack by terrorists. To know whether the operation of Team USA resulted in success or not and also to know what happened to North America and Canada, be ready to dive into “EMP Honeymoon.”.
The character depiction of each person in the novel is magnificent. The mode of writing by the author drives the reader to the corner of the seat in many situations. The same fear traveled into me that Kelly was experiencing at the pigsty shop when she was caught up by a member of a terrorist group. The situation urged me to get up and run with Kelly to make her escape from that person. I got into the same sensation in many circumstances of the story, predominantly at the time of the climax. The way the author presented the romance between Kelly and Tom is lovely. I give my hats off to the author, who sculpted each role in such a way that it all played an important part in the story. The representation of characters such as Cynthia, Professor Dr. Peter Kinney, Colonel Sky Eastman, Chief Scientist Kim Jung, and so on left a permanent impression on the reader's heart. Apart from the above personalities, one of the main characters that stole my heart is Steve Spalding.
This book is one of the best patriotic action thriller novels that I have read so far. The author perfectly handled her writing in the place where professor Dr. Peter Kinney gave an explanation of the electromagnetic pulse, which acted as both a storyline and an original scientific explanation for the readers. The book gave me the feeling of seeing a Hollywood movie while reading. In some places, I had difficulty coming across scientific wording and phrases. Even though it affected my flow of reading, each one was understandable when I read it twice or three times. Apart from the above-mentioned point, I didn’t find any negativity in this book. It is also important to appreciate the editing of the book; I didn’t find any grammatical mistakes or typos, which shows that the book was professionally edited.
In conclusion, EMP Honeymoon is one of the best action thriller novels, for which I would rate it 5 out of 5 stars. I would recommend this novel to people who love to enjoy power-packed patriotic action sequences while reading.
