Review of E M P Honeymoon
E M P Honeymoon by Dorothy May Mercer is a thrilling adventure that follows newlyweds Kelly and Tom as they become entangled in an international crisis during their honeymoon. The story begins with the couple at the Barefoot Sands Resort in Honduras, where Kelly stumbles upon a high-tech lab behind a gift shop, discovering plans for a catastrophic operation involving an EMP (electromagnetic pulse) attack. This discovery sets off a chain of events that propels the couple into a dangerous conspiracy that threatens national security. Senator Mike McBride, Kelly's brother, becomes involved as he tries to uncover the plot's details and ensure his sister's safety.
The narrative alternates between various locations, including the resort, the White House, and secret military operations. As the tension builds, the antagonist known as Dear Leader and his cohort, General Lee, plan to launch an EMP attack to cripple North America's power grid. Meanwhile, Lt. Flash Gordon and his Space Force team race against time to neutralize the threat. The climax revolves around the high-stakes mission to prevent the EMP attack from causing widespread devastation.
I like many aspects of this book. One of the most engaging aspects of E M P Honeymoon is its intricate plot that seamlessly weaves together romance, action, and political intrigue. The story keeps readers on the edge of their seats with its fast-paced narrative and unexpected twists. The characters are well-developed, particularly Kelly and Tom, whose relationship adds a personal touch to the global stakes. President Gerard Bigelow's charisma and Flash Gordon’s bravery also stand out, making readers deeply invested in their fates.
I don't dislike any aspect of this book. The book’s blend of romance and action is another strong point. The honeymooning couple’s involvement in the crisis adds a relatable and emotional layer to the story. Their bond serves as a grounding force amidst the chaos, providing moments of tenderness and humor. Additionally, the depiction of advanced technology and military strategy is well-researched and adds authenticity to the narrative, appealing to fans of techno-thrillers. I didn't notice any errors while reading this book, which shows that it was exceptionally well-edited.
I rate this book 5 out of 5 stars for the reasons I mentioned above. E M P Honeymoon is a compelling read that successfully combines romance, action, and political drama into a cohesive and exciting story. The book’s strengths lie in its well-paced plot, engaging characters, and realistic portrayal of an EMP threat. I recommend this book to readers who enjoy fast-paced thrillers with both personal and global stakes, offering an exhilarating adventure from start to finish.
